TYPE-3 (ASSAULT) BATTLE WALKER SQUADRON
Type-3
battle walkers are the pinnacle of the capabilities of the PHR to develop
mobile battlefield weapons systems. They combine the resilience of the Type-2
with the newest generation of experimental weapons which are capable of inflicting
catastrophic loss of life to the enemies of the Republic. While these behemoths
aren’t much taller than their predecessors, they are much heavier and utilize a
quadruped form of mobility to support the extra weight which has allowed the
mounting of heavier weapons to the chassis. Though more heavily armored than
the Shaltari Warstriders, Type-3s are still slower, not as durable, and their
weapons systems lack rear fire arcs.

walkers have had their normal Passive Countermeasures augmented by the use of
the Aegis Shield typically found on the Zeus Type-2 walker but at slightly
reduced effectiveness due to the incredible power consumption of the Type-3’s
weapons systems which is reflected by a P4+ in the stat line.
**Special Rule – Experimental: All Type-3 walkers are experimental weapons and are
still in the battlefield testing phase of development. Due to their rarity and
high value, only one squadron of them may be taken in a force list and only
when a Grand or Supreme Vizier is present.
The
Erebus Class assault walker is perhaps the most revolutionary of the Type-3s.
Newly developed technology has led to the advent of the RX-00x Point
Singularity Rifle. When mounted on the Type-3 chassis it provides solid
firepower capable of destroying even the most heavily armored targets in a
matter of seconds.

projectile ignores ALL Countermeasures and damage rolls that would normally
inflict 2 Dp inflict 3 Dp instead.
The
Eos Class is the first variant put into development by the PHR and was
initially an attempt at improving the RX-1000 battlefield laser. It was quickly
realized however, that due to the incredible amount of energy used to increase
the power output of the weapon that the entire Type-2 chassis would need to be
redesigned or upgraded as well. The Type-3 chassis is the product of this
research and the Eos is fitted with the larger RX-2000x ‘Dawnspear’ battlefield
laser.

essential systems and chinks in armor. If a roll of 6 is achieved when rolling
to hit, 3 Dp are automatically inflicted in place of rolling to inflict damage.
The
aptly named Tyr Class fills a very unique niche on the battlefield in that it
is as equally useful as a self-supportive artillery weapon as it is a premier
frontline assault vehicle. Primary armament consists of the new RXs-6x ‘Galaxy’
Multiple Launch Rocket System backed up by the RX-1R Rail Repeater found on the
Phobos Type-1. Such devastating firepower combined with the ability to defend
itself from air attacks has made the Tyr one of the most versatile and feared
weapons in the PHR’s arsenal.

*Special Rule – Agile Munitions: The method of delivery for the Galaxy Missile allows
it to behave unlike any other weapon on the battlefield. Because of this, if a
6 is achieved when rolling to hit, D3 Dp are automatically inflicted in place
of rolling to inflict damage.
The
Horus Class represents a command unit suitable to the new line of Type-3
walkers. It is armed with a pair of RX-2x Neutron Cannons which are similar in
principle to rail guns and gauss cannons but fire faster at the expense of
range and accuracy. This Technology is the closest the PHR have gotten to
replicating the Shaltari’s particle cannon.

*Special Rule: Any Type-3 Squad containing one or more Horus Class
Command walkers counts as a Command choice. The Horus itself is a ‘Command’
type unit.
**Special Rule: The Horus Class Command walker isn’t equipped with the
same massive, energy consuming weapons as other Type-3 walkers and benefits
from the full P3+ Countermeasures offered by the Aegis Shield.
**Special Rule: If a Horus Class Command walker is taken, the Type-3
squadron must occupy the HQ battlegroup in the force list and the highest
ranking commander must be mounted inside of it.
EXPERIMENTAL WEAPONRY
RX-2x ‘SWARM’ NEUTRON CANNON
The neutron cannons developed by the PHR are a best attempt at duplicating the technology utilized by the Shaltari particle cannon. The principle behind the operation of the neutron cannon is similar to the particle cannon, gauss cannon, and railgun in that solid mass projectiles are magnetically propelled at incredible speeds to the target usually punching right through it. The neutron cannon and particle cannon fire a small mass of magnetically contained subatomic particles rather than a typical projectile. This causes insurmountable damage to the target while requiring less energy to fire. Where the RX-2x falls short is that the PHR have thus far been unable to generate the vacuum tunnel produced by the particle cannon so while it fires faster than any other railgun technology in existence, it is countered by being less accurate and having less range. It is still a rightly feared weapon and has entered mass production.
RXs-6x ‘GALAXY’ MULTIPLE LAUNCH MISSILE SYSTEM
The Galaxy MLMS is the next logical step in the field of powered artillery munitions. Based on the RX-6 ‘Constellation’ MLRS, the Galaxy has been modified to mount on a Type-3 walker and a new guided missile has been developed to be fired specifically from it. The Galaxy Missile is very unique in that it is fired as if it were a projectile in a high velocity cannon. The target data is loaded into each missile’s onboard computer just prior to launch and a suitable launch trajectory is calculated in order to capitalize on lines of sight and target weaknesses. During non-powered flight, the missiles track the target and when proper line of sight is established (ideally directly overhead or even directly behind the target just above the ground) the rapid burn engines in the missile nearly instantly propel it to astonishing speeds. This not only allows for indirect fire from a high arc but even from around corners on a flat trajectory. The major downsides to the system are that no aerial burst mode is available in the warhead due to the space required by the onboard computers and upgraded engine and, due to the missile needing time in non-powered flight to track and monitor the target; they have a minimum firing range before they can activate. Despite lacking the sheer damage of the Constellation Missile, increased accuracy and agility of the Galaxy Missile ensures that more of them hit their target. The onboard computers analyze targets which allow the Galaxy Missile to decide the best mode of attack ensuring that maximum damage is inflicted. Buildings and infantry may be hit by a broad spread ensuring that damage is distributed across a wide area without diluting firepower. Alternatively, reinforced structures and armored targets are managed by the Galaxy cluster lining up in single file, all striking the exact same spot and ensuring total destruction or burrowing farther into a compound. The Galaxy MLMS is as versatile as the walkers themselves.
RX-2000x ‘DAWNSPEAR’ BATTLEFIELD LASER
During
attempts to increase the firepower that the RX-1000 ‘Sunspear’ battlefield
laser was capable of, the PHR soon found out that not only would the size of
the weapon need to significantly increase but the amount of power would need to
as well. Increased weight from the newly developed weapon and powerplant also
led to weight problems while using the current bipedal walker system. This led
directly to the development of the Type-3 quadruped walker and ultimately the
rest of the experimental weapons. Initial tests revealed that it would be
nearly impossible to increase the rate of fire of the weapon while keeping it a
manageable size. Instead the PHR opted for making that one shot count and
increased power output while reducing beam duration. This revelation resulted
in a much more powerful laser but also resulted in the RX-2000x still consuming
too much energy to be fired while on the move.
RX-00x ‘EVENT HORIZON’ POINT SINGULARITY RIFLE
Further
development of railgun technology eventually led to experimentation with
stronger magnetic fields and ultimately gravitational fields. After much trial
and error, a slightly larger than normal caliber projectile was created that
contained an anti-matter warhead. This projectile creates what the PHR refer to
as a point singularity. When it is fired, a reaction starts with the
anti-matter that causes the round to become hotter and eventually collapse on
itself violently. As it burns white hot through the air it rips surrounding
atmosphere and other materials with it in effect creating an ear piercing sonic
boom. Upon impact with the target, the projectile collapses in an instant so
violently that anything within 1 meter of the impact is also collapsed inward
with it down to the size of a pin head. After that instant all energy is spent
but the damage is always catastrophic. Even if a target isn’t destroyed it is
most likely completely disabled. The effect on living tissue, while forgivingly
instant, is absolutely terrifying to watch and this ensures that the RX-00x
will be a mainstay of the battlefield in the near future.
